Welcome back! We have had a busy start to term 2 in Prep A. We've started to study Joy Cowley books, looking specifically at rhyme. The preps had great fun reading the book 'Smarty Pants'. 

We turned ourselves into Smarty Pants, as you can see from the photos below.







Then we studied ANZAC Day. We read two great books, 'Grandpa marches on ANZAC Day' and 'Lest We Forget'. The books really helped us learn about the ANZAC soldiers. We thought about why need to do remember the ANZACs and did some fabulous art work. Look for it on the Blog soon!

On the last day of term we had the Super Egg competition. Everyone was very excited to wear whatever we wanted, and we had our eggs decorated and ready to go.  After assembly we took our eggs outside ready for the heats.  Here is our race: We were very excited, and Eliza won our heat! That meant that she got to go into the semi final to see who raced against Super Egg in the final.  Eliza didn't win this race, but her big sister did! It was a fabulous and exciting way to end our first term in prep!

Here are the ANZAC Day photos as promised.  The students did a fantastic job. I've included their comments as they are hard to read on photos. We have to remember that the soldiers were fighting to save our country from the baddies.  Jaco. We have to remember that the soldiers got injured for us.  Term 2 posts. Leading Senior Constable Millin came to visit and taught us all about the police. We got to dress up in police uniforms and sit in a police car.  We loved it!! Some firemen came to visit the preps and teach us how to be safe.  We learned that if there is a fire in our school or house we should get down low and go, go, go! The firemen showed us the equipment they have to wear to fires and we got to have a go at the fire hose! We made bread rolls when we were reading the story of The Little Red Hen. We had to mix the ingredients, knead the dough, let it rise, knead the dough again ad make the rolls, let it rise again, and then cook it. We also made our own butter by shaking cream and marbles in a jar. We put our own butter on the rolls and got to eat them while they were still warm. It was so yummy!
